Dieting and Back Pain

Monday, September 1, 2008

by F.X. Hesse

In this world of ours, we are surrounded by small, medium, and large boned humans. The bodily structure of the muscles and bones play a part in how the body is framed as it matures. Weight factors are considered by bone structure also. For instance, a medium-bone woman at the height of 5″2 can weigh up to 135 without being overweight. A larger bone structured woman can weigh a few pounds more without tipping the scale.Obesity however is taking over our country do to changes in eating habits. The damning changes include the FDA, which permits harmful additive in the foods we eat. We see obesity in our future at higher scales than ever in our history. Why do you think 12 and 14 years old children are running around with large buttocks and breast? Ask FDA about the additives. The problem is these children take for granted the benefits, since down the road those buttocks and chest will balance with midriffs, thighs, and so on.

Now you can take those cans of beans off the shelves, sit around, and do nothing about your weight, however if you do not loose weight it can lead to serious back pain. Back pain, especially lower back pain, is the worst condition of all pain we can experience, yet the condition spreads out from a wide array of causes.

Back pain emerges from a chain of reactions, starting with the skeleton bones and moving to the skeletal muscles. Once the bones and muscles are targeted, the reactions carry on to collagen, calcium, phosphates, magnesium, joints, ligaments, tendons, cartilages, synovium, fibers, connective tissues, nerve roots, nerve endings, and gradually moves to the largest component within our body’s structure, known as the Central Nervous System. Now we have serious complications in the making.

The chain reactions affect our hormones, metabolic; weight bearing muscles and joints, and moves to deterioration. Now, the chain reaction may not occur in like order, yet in one fashion or the other each component of the body is affected over time.

Obesity increases the chain reaction. Back injuries alone can lead to obesity. For instance, if at one time you lift or catch a heavy object, person, etc, later down the road your back may fail, causing you enormous pain. The pain slows your actions, as well as causes emotional responses to produce symbolism messages, which can alter your life dramatically. You may feel helpless and continue life lying on your back, pitying your condition and failing to see how you can relieve your pain. Inactive muscles lead to obesity.

In view of the fact, we see that the muscles must have proper movement daily to avoid such problems. Exercise is the key that opens the door to healthy spines and closes the door to obesity. Stop fat in its track by working those muscles.

Emotions are powerful and tricky. You can stop the emotions from playing tricks on your mind by taking action now. If you have a weight condition set a plan, and attempts to loose the measured weight at a scheduled interval. For instance, set your mind to loose five pounds by the end of the month. Once you loose the weight, you will notice a change in your spine, which includes reduced back pain. Set up a regimen of exercises that are suitable for you to achieve your goal.

When you loose weight, it strengthens the muscles in your tummy and spinal column. The health advantage increases the chain reactions natural flow. Natural flow is achieved, since you reduce the amount of stress added to the joints and muscles. In view of the fact, you want to choose stretch exercises and workouts that do not overexert the joints, or muscles, try some dance aerobics to help you burn the fat much quicker.

Computers and Your Health

Sunday, August 31, 2008

by Sharon Bell

Can spending too much time in front of a computer lead to certain health problems? What are the risks involved?

Experts say anything in excess is bad. The same is true with computers. Using them for long periods daily can lead to eyestrain, fatigue, dizziness, headaches and a host of other health problems.

This was revealed by Dr. Arthur Frank pf the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine who studied problems associated with the computer screen and keyboard machines.

Frank’s two-and-a-half-year study of computer users cover¬ed more than a thousand employees of the United Press Inter¬national, the Associated Press and newspapers in St. Louis, Memphis, Toronto, Vancouver, Honolulu and New York City.

Compared to non-users, Frank said computer users suffered more from blurred vision, eyestrain, neck, shoulder and low back pain. Those who worked more often with computers were also more irritable, had trouble sleeping and felt overworked than other employees.

Repetitive strain injuries (RSI) are also becoming common with computer workers. This is characterized by swollen fingers, aching wrists, and disabling hand, arm and neck pain.

“Disturbing as these reports may be, many of the hazards associated with computer use can be prevented,” according to Martin Wong, a technical consultant for Distribu¬ted Processing Systems Inc.

“By learning the most common causes of computer distress and making some basic changes to their work place and work habits, most people can avoid joining the growing ranks of casualties of the computer revolution,” Wong added.

To prevent computer-related problems, Wong suggests the following:

Work in a comfortable position where everything you need is easy to reach.

When working continuously at the computer, take a 15-minute break every hour.

Don’t exceed 10,000 to 12,000 keystrokes (roughly 1,700 words) per hour.

When looking at documents, use a copy stand. Make sure the document you’re looking at is as high as your computer screen.

Glare reflected from the screen can quickly lead to eyestrain. To cut the glare, Consumer Reports said you should:

Arrange your work space so that neither your eyes nor the screen face directly into a window or a bright lamp.

Arrange the lighting so it’s directly over the compu¬ter.

Keep the light level moderate, not bright.

If you’re bothered by eye bags, dark circles and wrinkles around the eyes, restore your youthful looks with Eyederma. For details, visit http://www.eyederma.com/.

The Growing Need for Water Filters

Tuesday, July 15, 2008
by Michael S. Logan
Stories reported about how unsafe our water is have been a real boon for the makers of drinking water filters. It isn’t the case of a few people crying wolf in order to make their own stocks with the company’s take a jump. The dangers are very real, and we want to explain to you exactly why you need to purchase a drinking water filter sooner rather than later. The threats to our health come in many different forms. There are pesticides, herbicides, petroleum products, cleaning products, parasites, and bacteria seeking to damage our health every day. These things reside in your town or cities reservoir system, and the only way that you can protect yourself is through installing drinking water filters all over your house. You may be thinking that since these products have been in the system for this long and haven’t hurt you, then you should be alright. The thing that makes that theory problematic is that you have no idea whether they’ve hurt you or not. As repeated low doses of these toxins are consumed they begin to have a cumulative effect on the body. Most of the chemical matter in your tap is widely recognized carcinogens, and even many of the spore bacteria have been linked to certain kinds of cancer. Chlorine, which was introduced back in 1908 as a means of disinfecting the water and protecting us from the ills it held, is now known to cause cancer and respiratory problems. Are you ready for that drinking water filter now? The joke is kind of on us on this whole chlorine thing. Chlorine had been utilized as a chemical weapon in World War One for goodness sake. You would have thought that in a country that has grown to be the most scientifically advanced in the world, someone would have thought to suggest that maybe putting a recognized killing agent into the water system was maybe not such a good idea. There is more to the toxin than meets the eye however. While most drinking water filters are designed to eliminate chlorine from your h20 as a general standard, very few on the market are as readily prepared for the spore that chlorine leaves behind. This byproduct may be every bit as deadly as that which spawned it, and most people have never heard of its existence. This compound known as THMs, which upon entering you home takes the form of chloroform gas which is another carcinogenic. THM’s has been linked most directly to breast cancer. Studies have shown that women who suffer from breast cancer have levels of THM’s in their systems far exceeding those of women without cancer. If nothing else, Purchase a drinking water filter for your wife or mother. There is little to nothing that the water treatment facilities can do to protect you from these poisons, as the machinery was not designed for such work. The only option you have is to take responsibility upon yourself to protect your health and well being. We think that you can see our point, that buying a good set of drinking water filters is something that you simply must do.

Sugar Can Kill! Don’t Believe it? Read More About How Here!

Thursday, July 10, 2008
Written by Jeff BeharRefined Sugar is Damaging to the Body!

Refined sugar is lethal when ingested by humans because it provides empty calories. In addition, sugar is worse than nothing because it drains and leeches the body of precious vitamins and minerals through the demand it makes on one’s entire system to digest, detoxify and eliminate from the body.

One of sugar’s major drawbacks is that it raises the insulin level, which inhibits the release of growth hormones, which in turn depresses the immune system. This is not something you want to take place if you want to avoid disease.

An influx of sugar into the bloodstream upsets the body’s blood-sugar balance, triggering the release of insulin, which the body uses to keep blood-sugar at a constant and safe level. Insulin also promotes the storage of fat, so that when you eat sweets high in sugar, you’re making way for rapid weight gain and elevated triglyceride levels, both of which have been linked to cardiovascular disease. Complex carbohydrates tend to be absorbed more slowly, lessening the impact on blood-sugar levels.

Sugar taken every day produces a continuously over-acid condition and more and more minerals are required from deep in the body in the attempt to bring the pH of the body back in balance. As a last resort, in order to protect the blood, so much calcium is taken from the bones and teeth leading to osteoporosis.

Excess sugar affects every organ in the body. Initially, it is stored in the liver in the form of glucose (glycogen). Since the liver’s capacity is limited, a daily intake of refined sugar (above the required amount of natural sugar) soon makes the liver expand like a balloon. When the liver is filled to its maximum capacity, the excess glycogen is returned to the blood in the form of fatty acids. These are taken to every part of the body and stored in the most inactive areas: the belly, the buttocks, the breasts and the thighs.

When these comparatively harmless places are completely filled, fatty acids are then taken distributed among active organs, such as the heart and kidneys. These organs start to slow down, and their tissues degenerate and turn to fat. Due to the reduced ability of these organs, an abnormal blood pressure is created.

Problems Associated With Sugar Intake Refined sugar can invade the lymphatic and circulatory systems, changing the quality of the red blood cells. The immune system is affected, as the body becomes limited, so we cannot respond optimally to attacks whether it is mosquitoes or microbes. Other health problems that can be caused by sugar include:

* Sugar can suppress the immune system * Sugar can upset the body’s mineral balance * Hyperactivity, anxiety, depression, concentration difficulties, and crankiness in children * Sugar can produce a significant rise in triglycerides * Sugar can cause drowsiness and decreased activity in children * Sugar can reduce helpful high density cholesterol (HDLs) * Sugar can promote an elevation of harmful cholesterol (LDLs) * Sugar can cause hypoglycemia * Sugar contributes to a weakened defense against bacterial infection * Sugar can cause kidney damage * Sugar can increase the risk of coronary heart disease * Sugar may lead to chromium deficiency * Sugar can cause copper deficiency * Sugar interferes with absorption of calcium and magnesium * Sugar can increase fasting levels of blood glucose * Sugar can promote tooth decay * Sugar can produce an acidic stomach * Sugar can raise adrenaline levels in children * Sugar can lead to periodontal disease * Sugar can speed the aging process, causing wrinkles and grey hair * Sugar can increase total cholesterol * Sugar can contribute to weight gain and obesity * High intake of sugar increases the risk of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis * Sugar can contribute to diabetes * Sugar can contribute to osteoporosis * Sugar can cause a decrease in insulin sensitivity * Sugar leads to decreased glucose tolerance * Sugar can cause cardiovascular disease * Sugar can increase systolic blood pressure * Sugar can cause depression

* Sugar can increase the body’s fluid retention * Sugar can cause hormonal imbalance * Sugar can cause hypertension * Sugar can cause headaches, including migraines * Sugar can increase insulin responses in those consuming high-sugar diets compared to low sugar diets * Sugar increases bacterial fermentation in the colon

* Sugar causes food allergies * Sugar can cause free radical formation in the bloodstream. * Sugar can cause toxemia during pregnancy * Sugar can contribute to eczema in children * Sugar can overstress the pancreas, causing damage * Sugar can cause atherosclerosis * Sugar can compromise the lining of the capillaries * Sugar can cause liver cells to divide, increasing the size of the liver * Sugar can increase the amount of fat in the liver * Sugar can increase kidney size and produce pathological changes in the kidney

* Sugar can increase delta, alpha and theta brain waves, which can deter clear thinking

* Sugar can increase blood platelet adhesiveness which increases risk of blood clots and strokes

Hair Mineral Analysis To Detect Copper

Wednesday, July 9, 2008
by Joy Healey
Many health problems can be caused by an excess of anti-nutrients - substances that stop nutrients being utilized or promote their excretion. Our modern life-style means we need to protect ourselves from exposure to a vast array of chemicals, and healthy eating is just one good way to address this. When the body’s ability to detoxify itself is exceeded, toxins accumulate in fatty tissues possibly causing chronic health problems. A high level of anti-nutrients - substances that stop nutrients being used, or promote their excretion - with possible ill-effects.

Check out your job or lifestyle and evaluate whether this has put you at risk to such toxins, if so, you are recommended to have a hair mineral analysis (HMA) to measure the levels. In this article I’ll be looking at just one of the levels an analysis may reveal, what problems this may be linked to and what you can do to correct the issue.

If you have a disease or illness, which has not responded to conventional treatment, you may wish to explore other possibilities and an HMA is an excellent place to start. So if you are suffering from ‘unexplained’ problems such as headaches, backaches, weakness or tremors, an HMA may help you to get to the bottom of it.

One of the most important sections of the HMA results is the part telling you about levels of toxic minerals, or anti-nutrients. If toxic minerals are found to be in excess, there are many ways in which a nutritional approach can help.

One mineral which may be raised is copper. Now although high levels of copper have been linked to problems, it must be remembered that copper is actually essential to us.

What are the functions of copper? Here are some of the bodily functions, for which copper is important: formation of red blood cells, connective tissue, skin and hair pigments, cholesterol regulation, enzyme production, energy usage and in the correct functioning of the nervous system.

When might problems arise? Although copper is essential for health, too high or too low levels can cause problems. Continually high levels may be associated with depression, irritability, nervousness, anxiety, phobias, irritability and joint or muscle pains. Copper levels will rise naturally during pregnancy, with use of certain IUDs or when taking the Pill. Levels may also be too high as a result of a vitamin C or B3 deficiency. Copper fights against zinc and inhibits the absorption of iron, both of which are essential minerals - particularly so during pregnancy. Ceruloplasmin, the copper-containing protein, is produced faster in the presence of estrogen and any biological state which increases copper levels is likely to increase the need for vitamin C as high levels of copper have been found to destroy vitamin C. If you have an unusually high reading of copper on a hair mineral analysis, this could be caused by permed hair.

Copper deficiency symptoms include: anemia, blood vessel hemorrhage, hypothermia, depigmentation of the skin. Some people suffer phobias and compulsions due to the high level of histamine, exacerbated by a low copper level. As copper will oppose the effect of histamine, individuals with a high level of copper but low level of histamine may suffer from paranoia and hallucinations,. If the copper/histamine balance is causing a problem, see the section on balancing levels of copper.

What are the sources of copper? Dietary sources of copper include avocado pears, liver, molasses, nuts, olives, pulses, shellfish, sunflower seeds and whole-grains. Other sources include water pipes (watch for blue stains in the sink), copper pans, processed food and pesticide or fungicide residues on non-organically grown produce. Copper bracelets, often used to help rheumatism, are thought to result in copper being absorbed through the skin. This may be helpful or not, depending on your hair mineral analysis result.

Can you correct the level of copper in your body? Calcium and zinc reduce levels of copper - which is good if you have an excess, but not if you have a deficiency. In either case, check whether your multi-mineral includes or excludes copper. If there is insufficient copper in your supplement and you have a deficiency, the calcium and zinc in your supplement may be worsening the deficiency. Switching to a formulation that incorporates copper can be helpful. Other ways to increase your copper levels are eating plenty of the foods listed above and wearing a copper bracelet.

The first priority, if you have a problem with excess copper, is to avoid as many as possible of the sources above. If you do need to reduce copper levels, eat plenty of the foods which contain calcium and zinc: leafy green vegetables, nuts, seeds, Brewer’s Yeast and seafoods. Fiber and pectin (a soluble form of fiber found in carrots, apples, the pith of citrus fruits and bananas) help remove toxic metals from the body, as do foods which include sulphur containing amino acids (the building blocks for protein). These include onions, garlic and eggs. Also, be sure to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables containing vitamin C.

Finally, if a Hair Mineral Analysis shows an excess or imbalance of copper, the recommended supplement program that comes with your report, will be designed to correct the imbalance.

Acai - Not Just a Juice in the Amazon

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

by Gabrielle Martineau

The acai berry is quickly becoming famous in the developed world as an antioxidant ingredient in drinks to boost your health but it has origins of much greater use.

The fruit found atop tall palms near the banks of the Amazon grows in clusters averaging 800 berries. It is harvested by locals that shinny up the trunks of 15 -25 meter palms, in often less than a minute, making the great skill almost appear to be easy. There are about 50-60 berries on a sprig from a cluster. The berry is about the size of a grape and dark purple in color when ripe, an inner pulp is only about 20% of the fruit with a large making up the rest of it.

The natives of the area have long appreciated this palm for its many resources, including its nutrient rich berry.

Berry

  • In its simplest form the fruit is chewed off the seed when picked fresh from the tree
  • A thick juice made by crushing the berries is very popular with locals of the Amazon
  • Berry pulp is used to make sauces in meat & fish dishes native to the area
  • A mixture of acai, sugar, and manioc (cassava)

Trunk

  • Wood used in construction

Leaves

  • As is common with other varieties of palms the leaves are often found traditional used in house hold items such as brooms, baskets, mats and for thatched roofs

Seed

  •  A single seed can produce over 20 individual shoots
  • Used in the making of local jewelry

  Palm Hearts

  • The tree must be felled for this portion of the palm that is a local vegetable staple as well as an exported product (hearts of palm are harvested from approximately 20 varieties of palm, but mainly in the acai)

Roots

  • Used for traditional medicinal purposes

Flavor-filled Fennel is good for salads and more

Monday, July 7, 2008
by Darrell Miller
If there has ever been an overlooked vegetable, it would definitely be fennel. Some people have an aversion to its licorice-like scent, while others feel as if fennel is a bizarre and obscure vegetable that they have no interest in learning how to prepare. However, those who have discovered it know that ignoring fennel is a waste of a versatile vegetable’s amazing flavor and healthful benefits. Even those who already cook with fennel might find that they aren’t taking advantage of its versatility. For example, many people use only the delicate, lacy parts of fennel as a flavor-enhancing garnish for soups or salads. Others stick to just using the green-white bulbs, while tossing the remaining pieces aside. However, there’s no season like now to start using and enjoying all the parts of fennel.Fennel is available from autumn until early spring and both its stems and bulbs have been found to contain many nutrients. Fennel spice, which is made from the vegetable’s seeds, can be found year round, as it is one of five spices in Chinese five-spice powder. One cup of raw, sliced fennel is a huge source of vitamin C, folic acid, fiber, and potassium. History has shown that fennel can be taken to alleviate bad breath, indigestion, intestinal spasms, cramps, and gas. It is thought that Puritans chewed the seeds in order to tame hunger during fasts. Recently, scientists have found that fennel contains antioxidants which promote good health.

In order to gain these healthful benefits, be sure to purchase white or pale-green fennel that has clean, firm bulbs. The bulbs should not be split, bruised, or spotted, while the stalks that grow from the bulb should be relatively straight. Additionally, the vegetable’s fronds would be green but not flowering because blooms indicate that the bulb is past maturity. When consumed right away, fennel is at its best. But, it can be kept in the crisper for up to four days. Be sure to wash it before using its base in hors d’oeuvres, salads, and gratins. Also, make sure to reserve its fronds in order to enhance dishes in a potent way. With such versatility in the kitchen, there is absolutely no excuse not to include fennel in your meals this season.

Once you discover that fennel is both crunchy and slightly sweet, you will want to incorporate it into many of your daily meals. Thankfully, fennel can enhance many dishes and make them extraordinary. Here are some quick ideas for using fennel this season. You can thinly shave the desired amount of a fennel bulb and toss it with a bit of olive oil, fresh lemon juice, and a small amount of Parmesan cheese to make a fennel salad at moment’s notice. Another option is sauté sliced fennel with equal parts of onion and bell pepper in order to make a simple vegetarian side dish. One can take advantage of fennel’s ability to enhance flavors by adding fennel with tuna or grilled sea bass. Fennel can also be cut vertically, leaving bulb, stalk, and leaves intact and then brushed with olive oil and grilled until lightly browned. Another idea is to garnish your favorite vegetable soup with coarsely chopped fennel fronds.

Block Cholesterol With Phytosterols

Sunday, July 6, 2008

by Darrell Miller

Phytosterols are the group of naturally occurring plant compounds which have two significant health benefits. First of all, phytosterols reduce blood levels of total cholesterol and the “bad” LDL cholesterol. Second, which is particularly good for men, phytosterols can reduce symptoms of benign enlarged prostate. These naturally occurring plant compounds are added to many common cholesterol-reducing foods, but can also be taken as capsules. Even though the word phytosterol may sound a little like steroid, phytosterols do not have any hormonal activity. Phytosterols are known by a large variety of names such as plant sterols, free sterols, and sterol esters. A related group of compounds, which are called stanols, are gathered from trees, not from plants.Phytosterols chemically consist of beta-sitosterol, campesterol, and stigmasterol. The structure of phytosterols is similar to that of cholesterol, but is poorly absorbed. Because of these traits, phytosterols function as cholesterol blockers by reducing the absorption of cholesterol from food and re-absorption of cholesterol from the intestine, which ultimately leads to lower levels of blood fats. Actually, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration now allows companies to claim that phytosterols-containing products are able to lower the risk of heart disease. Phytosterols can also be found in a large variety of plant foods, which includes fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, grains, and cooking oils. Additionally, saw palmetto, which is an herb that is commonly used to treat benign prostate enlargement, is rich in phytosterols, especially beta-sitosterol.

Many studies have been done that show the abilities of phytosterols supplements to reduce cholesterol levels significantly. One study conducted at East Tennessee State University, researched both sterol esters and placebos on the same group of sixteen people. The results showed a five percent decrease in total cholesterol and four percent decrease in LDL cholesterol after taking a modest dose of sterol esters for four weeks. Additionally, triglyceride levels decreased by nine percent while HDL cholesterol increased by four percent. Another study in which 2.6 grams of phytosterols were taken daily for 12 weeks resulted in a decrease of 3.5 percent in total cholesterol and 5 percent in LDL cholesterol. Due to this, it is suggested that those wishing to supplement in order to improve cholesterol levels should take 1.3 to 3 grams of sterol esters daily.

Several other studies have found that supplements of beta-sitosterol can significantly reduce urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, which commonly affects men ages 50 and older. The benefits can be long term to those men who continue taking supplements of about 200 mg of beta-sitosterol three times daily.

For those people with moderately elevated cholesterol, phytosterols can be an ideal natural alternative to drugs. Even those people who are already taking cholesterol-lowering drugs can benefit by phytosterols ability to further enhance the benefits of medications. In order to lower cholesterol, it also helps to reduce the intake of hydrogenated vegetable oils and refined sugars and starches, along with increasing physical activity. Dosages between 1.3 and 3 grams daily are likely to reduce cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels. The higher dosage is linked to greater reductions in cholesterol. Take phytosterols capsules along with food, for best results.

3 Successful Chinese Skin Care Methods

Saturday, July 5, 2008

by Ray A. Rubio

When thinking in terms of successful Chinese skin care methods, one has to consider that it does not only relate to beauty. Chinese skin care methods also encompass different aspects health. This actually makes good sense as the skin is the largest organ in the human body. The Chinese acknowledge that the skin is the most vital organ as it protects the body is its first level of defense against diseases and illnesses. If you do not care for your skin properly, conditions could develop. They range from peeling, dryness, itching, to pimple growths and more. These conditions, if not well cared for may worsen and last for months or even years at times. Like your hair and nails, the skin also needs to be well cared for and protected.

The Chinese believe that the skin is associated with the amount heat in the blood. Accordingly, the food consumed by people greatly affects the quality of the skin. For example, eating excessive spicy, greasy or deep fried foods cause heatedness in the body, resulting in certain skin types developing acne or dried skin. They also attribute certain seafood to skin problems, such as shellfish and mussels. As such, one should not take excessive amounts of any type of food in order to maintain a good skin texture.

Another cause of poor skin quality is the lack of sleep or excessive late nights, as it has negative effects on the liver, thus causing skin problems. If the body is not well rested, the liver becomes over active and toxins remain active in the blood stream. Also, not drinking enough of the right kinds of fluids and having insufficient intake of vegetables and fruits are other causes.

Other than the above mentioned skin care tips, here are 3 successful Chinese skin care methods that you should consider using.

1. Detoxify the Liver - According to Chinese traditional skin care techniques it is very important to detoxify, cleanse and calm the liver. The liver has an impact on every other organ in the body and the skin being its largest organ, is often the first to be affected by toxins. There are a number of Chinese herbal remedies available to help in the detoxification process; however, personal diet is the first consideration. Other than eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, one should also cut out processed and greasy foods to help detoxify the liver. Chinese herbal and root teas will also assist and support the liver through the detoxification process.

2. Moisturize the Skin - Chinese traditional medicine has also included moisturizing products for the skin as a key component. All of the moisturizing products used are completely organic, herbal and natural. For centuries, the Chinese have also included the Mother of Pearl in their skin moisturizing products as it enhances the beauty of the skin.

3. Nourish the blood - The third successful Chinese skin care method is vital as the blood nourishes the entire bodily system. Again, there are many different types of tonics available in today’s market that nourishes the blood. They have been used for centuries and often contain Ginseng or Dong Quai.

Effectively, tradition Chinese medicine prescribes that dietary and lifestyle changes need to take place constantly for successful skin care methods to work. This, together with the application of various techniques, herbal remedies, tonics and skin care products will ensure that the skin is kept clean, moisturized and healthy. They also ensure that the overall health of the individual is kept at its best.

Natural Colon Cleansing Recipes

Monday, June 23, 2008
by Ryan
Out of many ways for colon cleansing methods, natural colon cleansing recipe is the one that is generally sought-after. This is because of many reasons; easy availability, instant recipe requiring no much time and less efforts etc. People, since centuries, have been making various home recipes for colon cleansing. It is long-familiar fact that for healthy digestive system, one should go for colon cleansing because it offers good health. Over the times, the foods that we consume generally get lodged onto the walls of the entire gastrointestinal tract and then ultimately such wasteful/harmful materials get reabsorbed into the bloodstream instead of being expelled from the body. Natural colon cleansing recipe helps removing those unwanted substances and make body healthier. There are many homemade natural colon cleansing recipes, using Bentonite clay, as one of them. This is edible clay having strong power to bind the wasteful materials present in the intestines. It can adhere with the build-up along the walls of the intestines aiding in expulsion. Generally, such edible material is mixed with Psyllium-husks and juices or simply, plain water. This is normally taken over a period of some weeks depending upon the case. During therapy, a person is asked to drink plenty of water and to eat generally whole raw-foods like fresh fruits and dark green leafy vegetables.

Another great way to go for natural colon cleansing recipe is to be on juice diet. A fruit-juice diet is very efficacious way to cleanse the entire gastrointestinal tract. One can get extract/juice of the fresh fruits and vegetables and should include them into daily-diet. It is therefore, store bought juices might not make the cut. It is well known fact that while making juice from fresh fruits or ingredients, all the vitamins and other essential minerals get into it and the pulp remains as a waste. Consuming such rich extract, one can retain the powerful natural fruit/vegetable enzymes that ultimately aid in colon cleansing. Being on a juice diet, one is also asked to drink plentiful amounts of water in order to flush out toxins and unwanted/harmful material from the alimentary canal.

Including Probiotics such as acidophilus would restore the friendly-bacteria into the digestive system making it more capable to digest the food eaten. It is now proven that Yeast flakes or raw eggyolk is quite similar of taking multivitamins as they both are rich in vitamins and minerals. A healthy oil supplements are also important for which, one can go for cod-liver oil, coconut or fish oil. Sunflower oil and oils with omega-3 are also good ton consume as they contain natural colon cleansing properties. Consuming Vitamin C as a daily health supplement helps lessening some unwanted side-effects such as lethargy or dullness.
